Lucy DeRossette serves as the Assistant Program Director of the SOAR United literacy intervention program, where she brings deep expertise, passion, and energy to advancing student success. With more than 25 years of focused experience in literacy, Lucy has dedicated much of her career to helping students with dyslexia and learning disabilities develop strong reading skills—work she considers the most meaningful and rewarding of her professional journey.
Lucy holds a bachelor’s degree in English and journalism from the University of Mississippi and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Mississippi College. Over the course of 31 years in education in Vicksburg, she taught English and served in Career and Technical support roles before moving into leadership positions.
As a school administrator with the Vicksburg Warren School District, Lucy served as Career and Technical Director and later as Director of Innovations, where she helped lead forward-thinking initiatives to support student achievement and workforce readiness. Following her retirement from the district, she became a licensed Realtor and expanded her impact by writing grants for municipalities and nonprofit organizations.
Lucy and her husband, Tim, are the proud parents of three grown daughters and two grandchildren. They love volunteering and helping their community grow.
